Hummer's drive for the online crowd

Today may be Earth Day, but that doesn't scare the people at Hummer.
The megavehicle maker announced Friday that it will kick off an ad
campaign for the forthcoming "midsize" H3 model this weekend.
A new TV spot for the GM brand will air during ESPN's coverage of the
NFL draft, and the company also has whipped up an online ad set to show
exclusively at Hummer.com.
The newest, littlest Hummer, with a starting price of $29,500, is designed
to appeal to a younger group of buyers--presumably, those whose budgets
might be better tailored to the Honda Element. The online ad, called
"Game Over," will show off the H3's off-road performance.
"Game Over represents a shift in our strategy toward more online
advertising," Liz Vanzura, Hummer's marketing director, said in
the press release. "The H3 target customer is extremely web-savvy
and relies heavily on the Internet for up-to-date information on the
things that interest them."
The H3 is expected to roll into showrooms in May. A quick check of
the Hummer site on Friday showed that the 30-second ad is already rolling.
